Broxtowe Borough Council

Here is an overview of why having the sycamore dining lunch clubs at the Independent Living Schemes is so important for our residents:

When I first started in my role there was a huge demand from tenants for communal lunch clubs where the tenants can have a social dining experience at easy access from their home. Finding the right lunch club provider was a challenge until we contacted sycamore dining  were able to work collaboratively.

Fast forward 6 years and the demand for the lunch club has grown with in Independent living, we have sycamore dining providing lunch clubs nearly every day of the month and multiple sites across the Broxtowe Borough.

I arrange and cover activities for 7 schemes out of the 22 in the borough, sycamore dining runs lunch clubs in 5/7 of those.

Feedback from the tenants always positive, the lunch club helps our residents to stay independent, reduce loneliness and stay healthy.  I have regular conversations with tenants about the sycamore dining lunch clubs and the interest and feedback only gets more positive with the demand increasing.

Sycamore dining provides meals for on average 140 residents across 5 of the Independent Living Schemes every month, this is just the figure for the ones that I organise, there are many other sycamore dining lunch clubs from other independent living schemes that sycamore dining attend and are organised by my activities coordinator team members.

I hope this gives you a good indicator on the positive impact that sycamore dining has on our residents and social activities living in Independent living, Broxtowe Borough Council

Thanks,

The monthly meal provided by Sycamore Dining is something the residents at Winwood truly look forward to. It’s more than just a meal—it’s a vital social event that helps prevent isolation and fosters a sense of community. For many, it serves as their monthly catch-up with friends and neighbours.

Importantly, some residents who are unable to cook a hot meal rely on this service. Sycamore Dining has also been accommodating to those who decide to attend and pay on the day, ensuring no one is left out.

It would be a real loss to see Sycamore Dining leave Winwood. It has become a valued part of our activity routine and contributes significantly to the wellbeing of our residents.

Kind regards,

St Peters Church, Ruddington

This is to inform you about the great good Sycamore Dining does for vulnerable and social isolated people in Ruddington, Nottinghamshire.

St Peter's Church runs a community meal twice a month, called Heat n Eat. Sycamore

Dining provides meals for these events, at a massively reduced cost. As a result, St peter,s

Church is able to provide a two-course, home cooked meat at regular social events for some of the most vulnerable people in Ruddington.

40 people attend each Heat n Eat meal; all of them are elderly, many have disabilities, and almost all are socially isolated. The Heat n Eat meals, provided by Sycamore Dining, enable the church to provide people with support, friendship and opportunities for social interaction as well as a lovely hot meal, For almost all our attendees, this is one of a very few limited opportunities to get out and meet with others. The Heat n Eat sessions have been running for over two years now and good friendships have formed between regular attendees. This continuity has allowed more social interaction, which supports the health and wellbeing of our vulnerable attendees.

Without Sycamore Dining providing such good and subsidised meals, we would not be able to run the Heat n Eat sessions.

Yours faithfully
